I want to know the physical size of my CD rom drive CDDVDW TS-L633N whether it is 9.5 or 12 mm as I have to replace it by caddy for ssd.

There are few generations and many models/products of machines call dv6. What EXACTLY the model/product of your dv6 ? The simplest way to find out is to use a ruler.

If you wish to use it as a boot device, this won't work because you won't get out any good when putting SSD to the ODD (Optical Disc Drive) bay. You have to
(a) Replace existing HDD with SSD,
(b) Format old HDD to put it to a caddy then put to the ODD bay.
