Product: HP Spectre x360 - 13-ac013dx

I pulled the four plastic feet off the bottom of my HP Spectre x360 - 13-ac023dx so that i could replace them with thick rubber pads. I discovered that the two plastic feet at the side opposite the hinge have magnets in them. What is the purpose of these magnets, and can i simply leave them off when i fit my thick rubber pads without losing any functionality of the laptop ??
