I’m almost certain I know the answer but just want to check.

 

its perfectly ok to use a plug  / charger from an older HP laptop for a brand new one yes?

Hello @PaulDerby,

 

You need to check the output specifications of the charger you're trying to use and see what your notebook PC requires.

 

It looks like the HP Notebook - 15-dw0012na originally uses a 45W AC adapter but is also compatible with 65W AC adapters.

 

Usually, you don't want to use an AC adapter that is rated at a higher output voltage but if you read the chargers, you'll most likely see multiple different outputs and this is because the connected device will only take what is needed. 

 

Try reading the AC adapter and see what the output is rated at. Other than that, if the plug actually fits then you should be fine.
