Hi everyone,
As the thread title says, I'm getting the dreaded "plugged in, not charging" error on my laptop, which I've only had for two weeks; I am understandably confused and worried!
I don't know how long the issue's been occurring, but there was a Windows update a few days ago, so maybe that's related?
When I have the adapter plugged in, the white LED next to it comes on, suggesting that something is happening. The HP Battery Check tool says the battery's fine, and so does the Windows troubleshooter.
The laptop has a sealed battery, so I won't be able to remove it without voiding my warranty; so, out of the common fixes people have posted on YouTube and elsewhere on the Internet, I've only been able to try uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter drivers (no change) and shutting the laptop down and leaving the power cable out for a few minutes (no change).
How can I fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community.
I reviewed the case regarding issues with the battery. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 😉
I have a few steps listed below that should help you resolve this concern:
Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,
Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
Also, Go through them all and let me know what you have determined is causing the issue.
The first document has the most relevant troubleshooting if your battery appears to be not charging.

Hi Barachiel,
Thank you for your advice!
On a whim, I went into the BIOS, and found a setting for what point the battery should stop charging. I didn't even know that this setting existed, but for some reason it was set quite low (though still higher than where the battery actually was at).
I changed it to a higher value, and tried your method, and I'm not sure which one worked but the battery is currently charging.
Panic over! 🙂
