Hello all,
I've owned my HP Pavilion for around a year now, and I have been really impressed with its performance...until recently.
I use the laptop to play various simulators, and for around 11 months they have ran really smoothly. Two weeks ago, my pc began to throw up 'not responding' messages all the time. Especially when I would try to use Train Simulator. Since then, I have unintalled all of my games, and steam and redownloaded them - Still no luck. I've also completed various scans and found no issues in regards to malware, any viruses ect. All drivers are up to date and all software is up to date.
Over the past few days, I have had some luck in getting Train Simulator to load, however the game takes a good 15 minutes to launch, and performance is really poor. (Im getting between 15 to 25 fps).
Now, today I launched the game again and it loaded very quickly and ran smoothly...on batter power. As soon as I reconnected my charger, the performance dropped and so did my frames/lag increased.
In the past, with my charger connected I have had anywhere between 35 - 65 fps, so this is really confusing me.
I have turned on 'High Performance' mode via power settings, creating my own plan, however this has made no difference.
Any ideas what could be done?
Thank You Very Much!
Matthew.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
- Have you checked with a different charger or a higher capacity charger?
- What is the exact model for your computer?
While you respond that, I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics card from the below link and check if it helps.

Hello! Appologies for slow replies, I have just returned from holiday.
My laptop is an HP Pavilion Notebook,
Device Specifications are:
Name: Laptop-SD2A8OGI
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU@ 2.70GHz 2.90 GHz
Product ID 00325-95800-00000-AAOEM
Installed RAM: 8.00GB (7.89 GB usable)
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor.
The charger I am using with the laptop is the one that came with it: It is an 120W Charger.
Apart from updating my drivers recently as an attempted fix of the above problem, and reintalling Steam and Train Simulator, I have made no further software changes. Literally, I turned my laptop on one day and this issue began.
In additon to this, I have created my own power settings to ensure the laptop is always running on 'High Performance' settings.
This isn't just a gaming issue, my entire laptop runs poorly with the charger plugged in. When watching videos with the charger plugged in, the sound crackles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm back to work at the end of the week and would really like to be able to use it before I return.
Thanks for your time
Matthew

Just a futher update, is there any sort of phone number for HP UK I can ring? The problem isn't going away, and I can't even purchase another charger as the one supplied with my laptop is no longer in production and similar replacements are nearly £70 and all out of stock. Worst experience I have ever had with a laptop! Acer were never this bad.
Seriously considering just throwing this one and buying a new one!
