Hi!
I am about to purchase HP Pavilion 15-bc414nq (5ES99EA), but first I would like to clarify two things:

 

1. Is it possible to install SSD on this laptop, either as an additional hard drive or instead of on-board HDD? 

2. Is it possible to turn keyboard light off on this laptop?

I would appreciate an answer from someone who knows for sure!

Yes to both questions. Here is the Service manual:

 

Manual

 

See p. 20 item 4...f5 key turns backlight on and off. 

 

Start on p. 36 for opening the chassis. Inside you see this:

 

purple circle = M.2 slotpurple circle = M.2 slot

 

You would add an SSD to the system using the slot circled in purple in the picture above and it can take a 2280 form factor PCIe/NVME M.2 SSD such as this:
