@EFLYNN, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It seems you are experiencing inconsistent battery health results on your HP Pavilion computer based on the diagnostics tools you are using. Here are a few insights that might help clarify the situation:

Diagnostics Tools: HP Support Assistant and HP Diagnostics UEFI are reliable tools for checking battery health, but sometimes different diagnostic contexts (such as the presence or absence of an AC adapter) can affect the results.

AC Adapter Influence: It may be affecting battery readings. Some diagnostics may report the battery as needing replacement when connected to AC power if it detects issues with charging efficiency or battery cycle counts. When on battery power alone, there may be fewer variables affecting the diagnostics, thus reporting a "Normal Battery" status.

Battery Performance: If your battery health results are inconsistent, consider factors like usage conditions, age of the battery, and charge cycles. Batteries naturally degrade over time, and external conditions can influence performance.

Steps Forward:

  • Observe Battery Behavior: Monitor battery performance in everyday use. If it drains quickly or does not hold charge effectively, it may need replacement.
  • Firmware Updates: Ensure your computer’s firmware and HP diagnostic tools are up to date, as updates can improve detection accuracy and performance.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
