My HP ENVY x360 - 15m-bp012dx will no longer turn on because the power button has stopped responding. Basically, it feels like the button no longer "pushes". The laptop was a purchased only a little over a year ago for school and it is no useless. For this model, the power button is on the side of the case and it never had all that much push to it. (You only really had to tap it for it to turn on.)
I really don't have the means to go out and get another one and the computer stores said I need a whole new motherboard. I cannot understand how a depressed power button on the external portion of the case would require a whole new motherboard!!!
Can anybody help? Thanks much.

Thanks for the message @Echo_Lake, but they were not very helpful on the phone. $214 just for a power button? Unbelieveable! Also, they would only send me the parts with no guarrantee of them working. I'd have to do everything myself.
Anyone else having this problem? Seems to me to be a defect with the HP Envy line. Why have a power button on the side if it can jam?
Any help would be appreciated.

If it was dropped and the power button isn't working it could be that the case was dented causing the opening the button sits in to become misshapen. I had the same problem, tried a new board but still didn't work. I realized the opening had been affected when I dropped it so I squeezed it back into shape with a pair of pliers and it was back to normal.
