HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba1000 (1F4D9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there all,

I got my HP Envy Laptop about a month ago. All is well apart from a few build quality issues but altogether a solid laptop at a good price.

I'm having an issue with the charger though.

Instead of the regular 65W charger barrel type that was supplied with my laptop I've switched to a USB C charger which is much nicer.

The USB C charger can supply 65W ( 3.25 A @ 20.0 V ) as per its specifications which I trust as Anker makes good products. I've checked the User Manual for this laptop and it states this on page 56: (20 V dc @ 3.25 A – 65 W USB-C) as a power input.

However I've noticed that during peak usage my laptops battery is slowly drained which to me indicates that the laptop is not drawing it's full power which shouldn't be happening. Is it possible that I just happen to be drawing more than 65 watts anyway so it doesn't really matter what charger I'm using?

I assumed most laptops wouldn't be able to drain while being charged but this may not be the case, any thoughts?

Thanks

I have discovered the reason for the intermittent charging. To much avail it had nothing to do with either party except from the fact that since the HP Envy USB C port sits weirdly in the chassis the USBC cables do not always lock in which causes intermittent charging (which would explain how it was loosing battery on charge). @enviousman

My machine also requires 65W charger but I'm using HP USB-C dock G5 which has power rating Up to 100W via USB-C™  (up to 75W on non HP machines). Of course, I don't have problem battery draining.

Now, as you can see why ? Your Anker USB-C dock may only supply less than 65W for your HP machine . It is much better to use HP . My final say, your Anker dock is not compatible with your HP Envy.
