Power White light blinks while connected to charger, notebook won't turn on

My laptop suddenly would not turn on. At first I thought that it was out of battery, so I plugged in the charger. It first showed an orange light right next to the charging port that would then change in a blink to white, and then turned back orange again... and the same kept happening for several minutes. I tried to turn it on, but nothing. After a while, the light turned white only, but kept blinking in white color. Light blinks at every 8 seconds approx. Laptop still doesn't power on. Laptop is only 38 days of use (bought through Walmart.com) but apparently I cannot return it after 30 days. Very frustrating! Please help!

There was a recall on many HP batteries a while back. If that was produced prior to the recall, but sitting in storage someplace, it may have one of the bad batteries? As new as it is, one would think it's still under manufacturer's warranty.
