I have recently replaced the power button board and flex ribbon in a ENVY 15-U483CL, and was met with it shorting out the motherboard and causing it to power down. with the ribbon connected to the main board i need to short the pins on the connector to get it to power on, but as soon as I connect to the power button board it shorts off again. At first i thought it could be a short in the connector, so I replaced the mobo as well. same situation of it shorting out the board. the power button board is also a replacement, and the original was doing the same. So, to sum up, i have 2 power button boards and 2 mother boards, as well as 2 new flex ribbons, and still get a short when trying to connect them. I have disconnected individual components to see if it was a secondary part causing the short, but have not been successful. All of that being said, is there a common issue that causes this, or should i attempt one more power button board to make sure the one I ordered is not defective?
