I have been having an issue with powering my laptop. The AC adapter is plugged in and the charging symbol will constantly lose connection, then regain connection...  Sometimes when I tilt the laptop one way or the other, it shows charging again.  Lay it down regular and loses connection.  Just since typing this message it has lost and regained connection (with the laptop in regular sitting position) probably about 7 times.  I have tested the voltage of the AC adapter and it is showing full voltage.  Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any idea what the issue could be? Thank you!

You are focusing on the adapter which appears to be good. The laptop does not shut off it just stops showing that the battery is charging, right?  Have you run a diagnostic test on the battery?

Yes, the laptop does not shut off, just shows the battery is not charging.  I have run a diagnostic test on the battery and it is fine.  In fact, it was recently replaced so is pretty new.

Is the DC plug loose in the laptop power jack? If you slightly move it does it lose connection?

Please post the advanced output of the battery test. The pass/fail is not always helpful and there might be something else going on. 99% of the time charging issues are the battery and it can happen in even new batteries.

No, it is not loose.  II have tried slightly moving it.  I have tried unplugging and plugging back in and that doesn't affect it one way or the other.  Now I cannot get it to charge at all.  I only have about 71% of battery life left.  At a loss.

Run the diagnostic on the battery and post the advanced results.

HP Battery Check: Normal (now it shows charging).  Now it is not charging again unless I tip the laptop.

Battery Check:  Primary - OK (1)

Primary: Logic State - No AC Power (1), Charge State - Not Available

Component Test:  Passed

Ran again with laptop tipped on its side since that seems to working now.

Battery Check: Primary - OK (0)

Primary: Logic State - OK (0).  Charge State - OK (0)

AC Adapter Test:  Passed

Component Test: Passed

Just found something interesting in the diagnostic testing.

With my laptop on its side (supposedly in charging state) after clicking on Component Test and System Board Test, my options are:  System Board Test and Charging Port Test.  Ran Charging Port Test and it passed.  With the laptop back in normal sitting position (probably not in charging state), only System Board Test is showing as an option.  Charging Port Test is no longer showing as an option.  Would that be because it is not in a charging state or could that mean there is something wrong with the charging port?
