Hi,

Power plug (that plugs into the notebook) on end of lead from power adapter has been damaged. Where can I buy just the plug, so I can simply repair.

Does the plug have a 'name' or type number so that I can do a search.

Note: simply want to repair existing adapter, don't want to have to buy a complete power pack!

Any help appreciated.

This is a 4.5mm by 3mm plug:

same as this:

I'm also a qualified technician...have seen lots of technicians better than I do this repair and if your time is worth anything you come out better just buying a new adapter. Hard to do the repair where the thing stands up to daily use without making it look frankensteined.

There is no formal market for just the power pin. It has no part number separate from the adapter "brick". Encouraging people to do this repair would potentially create a fire hazard.

Having said that, it is a 4.5 mm HP blue tip and they make an adapter to that tip. You could cut off the tip and see if you can transplant it onto your adapter:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Original-OEM-HP-AC-Power-Adapter-Converter-Cable-7-4mm-to-4-5mm-Blue-Tip...

Again, I do not recommend this particularly when you could likely find a replacement adapter for $20 or less.

Thanks for reply. I'm a qualified technician and have no problem doing hardware repairs.
Will check out the link you provided when I get home, but I am in the UK so they may not be suitable.

Thanks

Note: Just realised you mention 4.5mm plug. The socket is less than 4mm diameter, so maybe you have the wrong plug. The plug needs to be approx 3.5mm diameter with centre pin.

I believe that part or something like it is your only hope. Maybe available on eBay UK

This is not right angle but might work:

The two links  to ebay look good - tip is the same colour as the orginal.

I'll give that a go. Thanks for your help.
