Hp dv7-3020ea i7 (white)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I have an old dv7-3020ea (i7 1.6) white laptop but have found the power supply is not an original Hp one and overheating. I’m looking to get a new power supply but there seem to be at least three dv7-3020ea models and different power supplies for them. It’s either 90w or 65w....please help me!!! 🙏 thanks.

Hi,

You need the 120W power supply which has part number 463953-001 for your PC.

You can find original and quality compatible ac adapters online if you search with part number.

Hope it helps,

If you want to be positive look on the bottom of your laptop.

Look for the input voltage. "It could be under the battery"

It should be 18.5V  and  6.5A or 4.74A.

V x A = Watts

You can use one of the following adapters

120-W AC adapter part # 463953-001
90-W AC adapter part # 463955-001

65W is probaly not enough power to run your computer. My motebooks normally have 3 AC adpters:

(a) Normal can be x W,

(b) Travelling (lighter) can be 70% to 80% of x W,

(c) For docking station can be 1.3 to 1.5 of x W.

For example x = 90W, traveling AC adapter is around 65 W and the one for docking station can be from 120W to 135W.

Regards.

Thanks for the replies. Great fully appreciated. I didn’t think the 65W one I have was sufficient as Intel turbo boost only works when I switch of the power supply and used the battery. It got burning hot too. As for the math w+v=sandwiches to me but thanks anyway lol. So I’m going with a 90w 4.74A 19v output voltage. 7.4*5.0 connector size. Cheers peeps

19V  x  4.74A = 90W

Volts times Amps = Watts

So your laptop requires at least a 90W adapter.

So I got a 90w power supply 463955-001 it looked the same but when I plugged it in nothing happened. My 65w old cable shows HP part number 384019-002 replace with HP spare 391172-001. I’ve put that in and it only comes up with a 65w power supply but I need a 90w. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
