I have hp 15j 109tx laptop, recently I purchased a mSATA SSD and installed it, immediately i put the battery and trying to turned on, but power key did not worked at all. Is it a general hardwire failure or my SSD is diffective one or its not posaible to insall mSATA SSD into my particular machine.
SSD - Samsung EVO 860, 250GB mSATA SSD.
I found that mSATA pin with 33mm x55 mm empty space just adjucent to wifi card.
Please provide aome advice, suggestions or solution to install SSD along with HDD 1TB(Hybrid with 8GB) into my system (if possible).

mSATA SSD ● Support for 24 GB mSATA SSD (not available on computer models equipped with 16834 MB or 12288 MB system memory or with a 256 GB or 512 GB SSD)

You are misunderstanding the purpose of the mSATA. You cannot add a drive in there to act as a boot drive. It is intended for an acceleration cache disk to speed up the main hard drive using Intel Rapid Storage Technology. If there is a hard drive in the machine it cannot be the boot disk. You might see if the machine will turn on if you remove the hard drive. You could run the 250 gig mSATA as the only storage disk in the machine. However, a 2.5 inch SATA SSD would be at least as fast.

Am getting a little. My system got into powerup failure and was fixed at nearest hp service center and they suggest me not to use that mSATA SSD. As for now I already purchased that mSATA Samaung EVO 860 SSD,
can I use that
1. as a single SSD (at mSATA connector) by removing the origional HDD
2. as a single SSD (with a mSATA to SATA - 2.5" case) by removing the original HDD.
3. Or a regular SSD by removing the original HDD.
Right side of HDD, i tried to connect with that slot. Hope you got my mistake
Please give more guidance, am completely a noob when its computer hardwire, and if its software I understand a little.

1. NO
2. That is possible. You would need to find something like this.
3. Yes and I think that is an easier choice.

I don't get the difference between 1 and 3. I think you can use the mSATA as the sole storage drive in the laptop but agree your best bet is with a SATA to mSATA adapter board and place the mSATA in the main hard drive space. It will then essentially be a SATA SSD and will be much faster than a spinning HDD. 250 gigs is sufficient storage capacity for a boot disk.
The device linked above is for an M.2 SATA disk and may not work with an mSATA old school disk. You need this:

1 is for that small slot just bellow the wifi adopter.
2 & 3 are for slot with already inatalled HDD.
Previously when I used those both slot simultaneously HDD and mSATA SSD, my system got short-circuit which cost me $12 as a service charge to fix.
@Huffer, that means by using a M.2 SATA SSD I can use both HDD & SSD in my machine! Any way for this instant am going with a adapter as suggested.
Thanks

One last time. It is not an M.2. It is an older technology mSATA mSSD. Since you already have the 250 gig mSATA I would either put it in the small slot all by itself (remove the HDD) or get an adapter box and basically turn it into a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Either will perform about the same.

Bro, I have the same setup and same laptop. Connect with me on [Personal Information Removed]
The mSata ssd works fine in that slot you just need to enable Legacy support in BIOS. You can also keep the other Sata Hdd connected!
So my setup had one 500GB samsung 850 evo mSata ssd + built in 1Tb Sata Hdd (that is surrounded by blue rubber in the pic).
I am surprised to see people commenting here that it will not work. Unless you don't have the same laptop and the same setup, please keep your **bleep** advice to yourself and stop misguiding people. I have been using this setup for over 2 years without any issues. Cheers!
