Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I'm upgrading the CPU in my Presario cq62-219wm.  The following question has been asked several times but I can't anywhere on this board where it has been answered. The maintenance manual gives a list of compatible processors that can be used for the upgrade. The problem is the manual says you  can use processor X if your laptop is a

model 1.1 or you can use processor Y if your laptop is a model 1.2. Question: How do you determine if your Presario cq62-219wm is a 1.1 or a 1.2. I can't seem to find any answer to that question. Thank you for your help.

You're very welcome @CactusClif

Glad that you have upgraded the processor which was the primary intention. Sorry that my suggestions didn't work out in helping to find the revision version number.

Great to hear that laptop has been performing very good now.

Cheers!

Hi:

That is the motherboard model revision probably,

You may be able to see your revision version in the motherboard part sticker - take out the memory modules (Page 4-10,11 in the manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02542455) & if you're lucky it'll be printed in the sticker on the board.

Thank you for your time Visruth. I pulled the ram and did not find anything indicating the version on the board. I might teardown the laptop this weekend and look for an indicator. Any other Ideas?

You're welcome!

You've really look for it in the board itself.

Thank you for the information. Yes I looked as far as I could without removing the case.  After looking at your link I think the version number is stamped on the board. I will take it apart this weekend and check. I will take pictures and update this post.

You're welcome!

It'll be printed in some sticker or just stamped on to the board. Do keep posted.

Good luck!

cq62 board markings.jpgI completely disassembled the laptop. It was much easier then previous laptops I have disassembled. Still no solid indication of the version number (1, 1.1, 1.2). I found the markings on the board DAAX3MB16A1 REV: A. I'm thinking this might mean version 1. I'm not 100% sure. No problem though. I now know it has a PGA478 socket. I ordered an Intel Core™2 Duo Processor T9300 to replace the old Intel Celeron Processor 900. I should get the CPU this thursday. I will keep you updated on the results.

Upgrade completed. It was fairly easy in comparison to other Laptop upgrades I performed. I successfully installed an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 CPU. During the upgrade I decided to replace the RTC/BIOS battery CR2032. In the process of the battery replacement I broke the flap on the plastic battery holder across from the release clip. I was running out of time so I used electrical tape to hold the battery in place. Bad practice I know. The battery containment piece across from the release clip was paper thin. It didn’t take much pressure to break it off so be careful. I will fix that at a later date. Once I put the laptop back together. I started it back up. The OS (Win 7 Home Premium) loaded the proper drivers for the new CPU and rebooted. The speed difference is significant. I still don’t know what version of mother board I have, but I accomplished what I set out to do. The performance boost was dramatic. It was well worth the effort. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
