I have an old compaq presario v2000 that was starting to die and when I tried to transfer the hard drive contents using the usb port but the port stopped functioning. I have pulled the drive, but compaq in it's wisdom did not use a standard ide connector. It uses some kind of blade system to make the connection rather than the standard pin connection. I have tried to find a way to find a compaq blade type interface so I can use a usb hard drive enclosure to transfer the data I want. Any ideas how to do that.

I believe that model has a (maybe black) jumper type thing on the pins. Try sliding it off and you should have a standard ide connector.
