Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

 I'm a little confused here. There are apparently two types of connectors for the screen, a 40 pin for the touch version and a 30 pin. Mine is a 30 pin non-touch HD (720p) screen, and I'd like to replace it with a 30 pin FHD (1080p) screen.

But retailers say you must match resolution? Is that correct? Why would that not be possible?
