ProBook 450 G3 memory incompatible with socket

Twice I have bought memory that says it fits my ProBook 450 G3 and both times the slot in the memory card does not fit the tab in the laptop spare memory socket. The pictures shows the memory overlaid on the installed memory with slot in the wrong place. Can someone please point me to memory that is compatible?

Hi,

There are two different versions of the ProBook 450 G3. One uses DD3L memory and the other uses DDR4 memory.

Yours uses the DDR4 memory (which is faster)

So your PC supports max 16GB of DDR4-2400Mhz RAM (2x8GB)

You can choose your prefered brand. I will not give installation instructions as from your picture I can see that you already know how this is done.

Hi David,

Thank you for your explanation. Is there specific criteria I need to match to ensure compatibility or will any DDR4 2400MHz memory work? If you have a specific recommendation I would appreciate it. I found the following:

SAMSUNG 8GB DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400MHZ, 288 PIN DIMM, 1.2V, CL 15 desktop RAM MEMORY MODULE M378A1K43CB2-CRC

My machine is very fast. No complaints at all about performance. Now I know why.

The RAM you posted is desktop RAM which will not work in the notebook. 

You need the DDR4 260 pin Sodimm (sodimm is the size, but basically means for notebook). I personally usually use Crucial RAM, but Samsung is good and other brands will work too.
