HP ProBook 450 G6 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi.

Notebook was in fully working order.

There was installed Target 120 GB Sata SSD with Win 10 pro.

I changed Sata SSD to Samsung 370 Sata SSD (128GB) and added Samsung 980 M2 SSD (500GB).
After replacing/adding these SSD, I charged notebook to 100% with original 45W charger.

Then Installed Win 10 Pro (1909). During long update (4-5 hours) of Win to 22H2 I noticed than battery is at 70% and not moving (not charging/discharging).

During Win update there was 1 or 2 of Bios updates. Then I updated Bios to latest version from HP support page (1.22).

Now notebook can work from battery and AC adapter. But battery is not charging!!! Nor in power off state, nor from Win.

Charge indicator lights continuosly orange. When I plug AC adapter in Win - it shows for 3-5 seconds that it's charging (battery indicator) but then battery indicator is still. It tells me: "XX% available, power from AC" and no estimated charging time.

HP power manager utility shows that battery has 89% of life and in normal state.

My friend has the same notebook.

I replaced battery. My battery IS CHARGING on his notebook. His battery IS NOT CHARGING on mine notebook.

I tryed 2 original HP 45W AC adapters and charging throught Type-C - situation is the same.

I think that this was after some of Bios updates.

Can I get previous versions of Bios?

Can somebody help me with this issue?

Thank you!

Did you try to charge the notebook by way of a USB Type-C port? That is what I understand from the content of your thread.

If you did you may have caused some damage to the system board. It probably needs to be inspected for short circuits and failed components related to the power and charging circuits by a competent Electronics technician, Electronics enthusiast or Electrical Engineer .

Notebooks delivered with power adapters that connect to a round DC in plug by way of a barrel connector should only be charged with the original or compatible power adapter.

I tried to find older R71 family BIOS files and was only able to locate a few.  See the link below this. Any R71 family BIOS files will work with your notebook's BIOS.

HP removed access to their FTP servers a few months back, so finding and downloading older BIOS files is a difficult process.

Thank you for your reply!

I used Type-C charger couple of times. And now it's still working. So Type-C is functional.

I downloaded and installed couple of previous Bios FW. But "Intel Management Engine Firmware" during Bios downgrade was not downgraded (according to displayed information).

And after Bios downgrade, at the next reboot automatically Bios was updated to latest version (maybe because of Bios BackUps).

I looked at 2 equal MOSFET transistors near battery connector. Looks like one of them is burned...

If one of them for charging battery, other - for discharging - this may be a problem I'm searching for,

Yes.

A fried MOSFET in the circuit would definitely cause charge or power issues.

Check the capacitors in that circuit section as well.
