Hi,
I'm into videography and I want to upgrade my ProBook 450. My specs are:
Intel Core i7-4702MQ CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz
RAM: 8.00GB
AMD Radeon HD 8750M
1TB Toshiba MQ01ABD100 SCSI
I want to add 8.00GB RAM, and possibly an additional SSD disk. I need all the speed I can get, because the current configuration is not ideal for rendering and exporting footage. Plus the laptop tends to overheat.
1. Can I simply add RAM without having to upgrade other components?
2. Can I have both SSD and a HDD disk on this laptop? If yes, please recommend one which is most compatible with this lap top. I don't need to go overboard with the capacity at first, all I need is to store my OS and programs.
Thank you in advance,
Arian

Here's the Service Manual:
PP. 37-45 for "how to" on RAM and hard drive.
There are 2 memory slots and space for a single 2.5 inch hard drive or SSD.
The laptop can take 16 gigs of RAM. If you have 8 now, it is either 1 x 8 which means you just need to buy 1 module or it is 2 x 4, in which case you need to buy 2 x 8 gig modules of DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM
8-GB (PC3L-12800, 1600-MHz, DDR3L) 693374-001
For what you are doing you absolutely need 16 gigs of RAM and an SSD. Since you can only have a single SSD, like this for example:
You need a decent amount of storage or you need to be vigilant about storing files not currently being processed on an external drive or in the cloud. You could maybe get by with a 256, 512 would be better and 1 TB is really what you need. Video production rapidly consumes storage as I am sure you know.
Post back with any more questions. The laptop should be capable of what you want to do and for somewhere between $225 and $350 it can be made much much better; far cheaper than a whole new i7 laptop.
