Hey Guy's,
just so your wondering im a Tester. i like to get laptops and desktops and build them to their max and fix their faults by exploring different forums, in combination of info to centralize the modification.
anyway HP ProBook 4730s;
Original Specs:
HDD 500GB 7200rpm
Ram 4GB 10600
Wfi card Athros
Optical Drive
CPU i5 2410M
AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series GDDR5 1GB
trick to the switchable graphics, go to the catalyst control panel and on the first page "uncheck" "Allow Additional power-savings". that should do it
, that and adjust the power distribution to maximum performance everything and never turn off HDD. also MSI Afterburner worked too, but use for last resort, because your adjusting the power to the cpu and graphics
, so be careful otherwise brick comp.
Modifications:
Samsung 860 Pro 256GB SSD, SATA-III 6Gb/s
Optical HDD Caddy with Seagate Barracuda 2TB 2ndary Drive 5400RPM, SATA-III 6Gb/s
WIFI card is a(intel 6300-N ultimate; 450Mb/s) , got out of another hp laptop, hard to find online because of whitelisting. Or get the (intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230; 300Mb/s) much cheaper and easier to find. Make sure that its compatible with Hp, because of Whitelisting its very specific about the type, just like with lenovo products.
6230 details; (62230ANHMW / 636672-01)
Ram 8GB 10600, ongoing to (16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 1.5v)
CPU still i5-2410m, ongoing to i7-2670QM
AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series GDDR5 1GB
thermal paste; (24-Carrot IC-diamond)
after i put the last too components in i believe it should be complete in terms of Maximum Capabilities.
i just ordered the last too and should have them by the 13th of March 2018, if interested in the results of my test, just add to the thread and if i get the notification ill try to respond with the results.
oh! as for the HDD Caddy i managed to keep the original Face plate from the optical, just becareful, very fragile when removing, damage the optical drive, but not the face plate, those are hard to find online.
also, some HDD Caddy's have a small switch next to the SATA connector inside Caddy, be sure to to move it either away or towards the port, but not in the middle. when you get it right it will speed boot time.
wish me luck on my final steps of maxing out this laptop.
