Elitebook 840 G9
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I would like some help with a problem I am facing. I have tried several models and brands of 16GB DDR5 RAM to upgrade the Elitebook 840 G9 machines, but I have not had success with any of them. I have removed the original memory from another 840 G9, but I cannot get it to be recognized in another machine of the same model. This is very strange; I am only experiencing this issue with the G9 models. The G10 models I have in the company accept compatible memory without any problems.
Does anyone know if there are any BIOS changes that would be necessary to fix this?

De nada!

It is not an error.

Any time the memory configuration is changed the laptop will undergo a memory training process.

That is what you experienced.

There are thirteen different versions of the compatible BIOS for the 840 G9 laptop. Click on Revision history to see them all. I suggest installing the most recent one. It has a roll-up of all previous bios changes.

The best way to upgrade is to only purchase guaranteed compatible mainstream brand memory modules.

I have never had the experience that you are reporting.

When installed memory is replaced with other compatible memory, sometimes the memory training process will take a few minutes, so don't expect it to work immediately.

What is happening with the upgrades. Does the laptop boot up to BIOS?

Hello, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I discovered that the BR (Brazil) models of the 840 G9 take about 5 minutes to identify the RAM memory.

It turns on the fan loudly for this period and recognizes the memory.

Strangely, we did not encounter this error in the G10 models.

Thanks for the help Erico!!!!!!!!!!
