Hi @Ionel2025,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It’s completely understandable that you’re surprised by your brand‑new HP 15 fc0039nq’s fan running almost constantly, even when browsing the internet or doing very little. Your laptop is a high-performance Ryzen 7 model, and modern processors can generate enough heat, even during light tasks, to require active cooling. HP engineers designed voices like yours into the system:
- Gaming or performance-oriented laptops often have more aggressive cooling profiles. The fan starts early and stays on to protect the hardware, even under light loads.
- HP Command Center or Windows might be set to the highest performance/power mode, which keeps temperatures up and fans running.
This behavior, while noticeable, is usually within expected design parameters unless the fan is unusually loud or constant, even at low usage.
What You Can Do to Adjust It
1. Adjust Power Mode
- Go to Settings → System → Power & Battery (Windows).
- Set Power Mode to Balanced or Best Power Efficiency instead of Performance.
- Lower CPU power targets = lower temps = less fan noise.
- Lower CPU power targets = lower temps = less fan noise.
2. Use HP Command Center
- If installed, open HP Command Center.
- Switch cooling to Cool Mode or Quiet Mode, which raises fan speed thresholds, reducing when the fan engages.
3. Check for High Background Activity
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc).
- In the Performance tab, check CPU usage.
- In the Processes tab, sort by CPU usage and close any apps or services using excessive CPU or background activity.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
