Hi. Once I decided to upgrade my RAM to maximum allowed (32 Gb). I bought 2 modules by 16 Gb of Kingston HyperX series. Then I remove my original 8 Gb module and replace it by new 16 Gb modules. After NB switching on BIOS said me that memory size is changed, press Enter. I did it. System started OK. About system window showed full memory size of 32 Gb.  Then I restarted, BIOS became beep ( - - - . . . ) and NB cannot not load. Then I restore original module - Windows started OK, restarting succeeded. In common, 1 x original (8 Gb) - good, 1 x original + 1 x new  (24 Gb) - good, 1 x new (16 Gb) - bad, 2 x new (32 Gb) - bad. What should I do to get max size?  Thanks.

I don't know which Kingston HyperX series or RAM you bought. The problem is: it is NOT compatible. But why it works with existing RAM because system uses existing RAM and automatically downgrade / adjust new RAM to match. It must have a base. Please

  1. To be sure is to be sure: only use 2 pieces of  16-GB (DDR4-2133) part # 820571-001  or
  2. HP uses RAM from few suppliers therefore use CPU-Z to get information from existing RAM and ONLY buy same brand, same specs with larger capacity.

Regards.

@AndreiSk , welcome to the forum.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for your laptop.  On Pages 37 and 38 is a list of compatible memory and instructions on how to install new memory.  Here is what it states:  CAUTION: Failure to update the computer to the latest BIOS prior to installing new memory may result in various system problems.

Here is the latest BIOS that is available from HP.  If updating the BIOS doesn't solve your problem, I suggest contacting Kingston's Tech Support for help.  They are the experts on their products.  It could be that the HyperX memory is not compatible with HP's motherboard.  It wouldn't be the first time that I have seen their motherboards reject gaming memory.

You was right, Kingston HyperX was not compatible indeed. I changed it by pair of Crucial CT16G4SFD8266 modules. I found it on Crucial site for my notebook model. Thanks all, problem solved. But this is a big question for me: WHY did system start after memory change?
