Pavilion 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have been having trouble figuring out if there is an issue with my laptop's battery. The model is HP Pavilion 15 cc028na and it's only 3 years old. Only has been used for work and leisure purposes, no heavy usage such as gaming.

For about a month I noticed that the battery has been acting strange. It stopped charging fully to 100%, it went from charging up to 98% then gradually down to 84%, decreasing every day.

The battery is non-removable so I tried turning it on and off, charging it while it's on sleep mode, and letting it discharge, and then charging it. I haven't tried uninstalling the battery drivers or anything like that.

The only problem I thought could be causing it is that it wasn't plugged into a wall socket but when I did plug it into a wall socket the light next to the charging port turned white when the laptop reached 86%. I also run HP Assistant's battery troubleshoot and it told me the battery was failing and that I needed to replace it when it was charging through a multi-plug socket, but when I run the troubleshooter again after plugging it into the wall it showed that the battery status is OK.

I have also run the battery troubleshooter that Windows Settings provide and I don't have any advanced power settings enabled.

When the laptop is charging, if I hover over the charging icon, it says the battery's percentage and that it's plugged in, for example, '43% available (plugged in)'.

Also, I want to add that I usually put my laptop on sleep mode rather than shutting it down and turning it on every day, could that be a factor in causing a problem to the battery?

Does it sound like there is a problem with the laptop, battery or charger?

I would also like to add that it charges and discharges very fast. It can go from 29% to 28% in less than a minute and from 10% to 40% in the span of 10 or so minutes

@stella_myr

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the battery on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the steps in the below article and run a test on the battery.
