Please note, I'm not tech savvy so if you could break down your advice for me to better understand, I would appreciate it.

I have an older HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx laptop with Windows 7 that is at least 10 years old. Lately, it will have a problem starting up to where only a black screen appears and I can't get past it. The laptop itself is running. In the past when this happens, I shut it down and keep trying and eventually by holding down or repeatedly pushing ESC or trying other things, I can usually get it back up over time with no issues. But this time it won't allow me to get past just the plain black screen when I boot it up.....if I can get things to show on the screen, it will sometimes start up and then eventually just show the blue screen of death but shut down after that. Other times it might not show the blue screen of death but will let me eventually login to my desktop, but then the display is much larger like I'm in safe mode even though I'm not and will shut down again on it's own.

I've tried the trick of shutting it down, unplugging everything from it including the battery and then holding the power key for 1 minute and then plugging everything back in. Sometimes this has maybe helped get the screen to display information but if it does, it again runs into another issue once up and running like mentioned previously and shuts back down on its own.

I have already bought a new Windows laptop so I'm not looking to continue using this long-term. But I'm still needing to just get this up and running long enough to be able to transfer over files, wipe it out, etc. so I can eventually dispose of it. Thanks in advance for any help.
