I have an HP Envy x360 13 (Ryzen 2500U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD). After the F31 BIOS update I'm experiencing the following problems:
1. Every time the laptop boots up, a BIOS update message appears, but the update fails and displays a "Unable to open the BIOS signature file" error. Windows 10 (version 1809) displays an exclamation mark in the "System Firmware" driver in the device manager.
2. Reduced memory available. Now there are only 6GB of available memory (5.96G available to be precise), rather than 7GB like when the device was purchased.
3. Reduced Toshiba XG5 SSD write speed. Transfer mode is reduced from PCIE3.0X4 to PCIE1.0X4 after updating the BIOS.
There are a number of reports of these issues in HP's Chinese support forum:

I would like to confirm that HP is investigating these issues and will launch a new BIOS update to fix them.

We cannot speak for what HP has in the works but be assured others have reported similar issues with Ryzen systems and I know HP is aware of it. I also know one of the specific complaints about Ryzen systems is not enough memory allocated to video so I suspect the reduction in available memory is intentional as more has been allocated to video.

Thanks for your answer. I hope the BIOS fix is coming soon because it's annoying to see an error every time the laptop is turned on or restarted.
As for the issue of available memory, it would be very convenient if HP placed an option in the BIOS for the user to choose the amount of memory reserved for the GPU. 1GB of memory is quite a thing and can make a difference in performance. Also, not all users need 2GB reserved for video.
