Hi @Leo-hd, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the USB port on your HP OmniBook X 14-inch Laptop AI PC 14 is not working for external devices and shows a USB error only on this laptop, try these steps:
Basic Checks:
- Try Different USB Ports – If your laptop has multiple USB ports, check if the issue is specific to one port.
- Test with Different USB Devices – See if other USB devices (flash drives, mouse, keyboard, etc.) work on that port.
- Check for Physical Damage – Inspect the USB port for any visible dust, bent pins, or damage.
Software Fixes:
Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Hardware and Devices and run the troubleshooter.
Update USB Drivers
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click each USB Root Hub and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart the laptop and test again.
Uninstall and Reinstall USB Drivers
- In Device Manager, right-click the USB controller that has an issue and select Uninstall device.
- Restart the laptop to let Windows reinstall the USB drivers automatically.
Disable USB Selective Suspend
- Open Control Panel > Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings next to your active power plan.
- Click Change advanced power settings.
- Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting and set it to Disabled.
- Apply changes and restart.
BIOS and Hardware Check:
Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers
- Go to HP Support and check for the latest BIOS and chipset driver updates.
- Install any available updates and restart.
Reset BIOS Settings
- Turn off your laptop.
- Press F10 repeatedly while turning it back on to enter BIOS.
- Find the option to Load Default Settings and apply it.
- Save and exit BIOS.
Hardware-Related Fixes:
Check USB Power Supply
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click USB Root Hub > Properties.
- Go to Power Management and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Maybe the problem is located in the driver software, e.g. if you want to connect the STM32Cube IDE to thisd laptop, it will not communicate over USB because there is no st-link-server software toi be used with this laptop - so let's wait.
Obviously it is not a good choice to select a new windows hardware technology. I'm MacBook M1 user and st-link-server is working perfectly.
