Hi @Barg237,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

If you're experiencing difficulties with your HP Rechargeable Tilt Pen MPP 2.0 while using it with your compatible HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue

Reinstall Pen Drivers:

  • Uninstall and then reinstall the drivers for the pen. You can do this by going to Device Manager, finding the pen under "Human Interface Devices," and uninstalling it. Restart your device to allow Windows to reinstall the necessary drivers.

Check Bluetooth Settings:

  • Ensure that Bluetooth is turned on and functioning properly on your device. Sometimes the pen requires an initial Bluetooth connection to pair with the device.

Update System Software:

  • Make sure your HP Omni Book's operating system and firmware are up to date by checking for updates through Windows Update or HP Support Assistant.

Configure Pen and Touch Settings:

  • Navigate to the pen and touch settings in your device’s Control Panel. Ensure the settings are optimized for using the HP Tilt Pen, checking that the tilt functionality is enabled.

Test Pen Functionality:

  • Test the pen on different applications to see if the problem is specific to one application or more general in nature.

Factory Reset the Pen:

  • Some pens have a factory reset option. Check your pen's manual or documentation for instructions on how to perform a reset.

Take care and have an amazing day!

the Problem still exist even though I followed all directions and when I used it on my 2017 spectre 360 the pen worked perfectly but with the new HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx AMD Ryzen AI HX 375 it acts crazy as it selects multiple points at the same time in the screen.

Hi @Barg237,

Thanks for your response.

it sounds like the issue may be related to screen calibration, driver compatibility, or firmware interactions on your new HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx.

Please follow the  troubleshooting steps :

  1. Check for Windows Updates
    • Go to Settings → Windows Update and ensure all updates are installed, including optional driver updates. Sometimes touchscreen and pen improvements are delivered through Windows updates.
  2. Update Pen & Touch Drivers
    • Open Device Manager → Human Interface Devices
    • Locate the HID-compliant pen/touch device and ensure the driver is up to date.
    • If needed, visit the HP support page for your OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx to download the latest touchscreen or pen drivers.
  3. Calibrate the Screen
    • Open Control Panel → Tablet PC Settings → Calibrate
    • Perform a full calibration for pen input to ensure precise detection of single points.
  4. Test Pen on Different Apps
    • Sometimes pen behavior can vary between apps. Try testing in Windows Ink Workspace, OneNote, or Paint to see if the issue persists across all applications.
  5. Check for Pen Firmware Updates
    • If your pen supports firmware updates, ensure it is running the latest version.
  6. Pen Settings in Windows
    • Go to Settings → Devices → Pen & Windows Ink
    • Check pen sensitivity, touch feedback, and other settings that might affect input behavior.

I hope this helps.

I tried all options, but it did not work also i could not find the option Locate the HID-compliant pen/touch under device manager and human interface devices which might be the reason for not properly working on the device.

Hi @Barg237,

Thank you for the detailed update. Since the HP Rechargeable Tilt Pen MPP 2.0 works correctly on your older Spectre x360 but shows erratic multi-touch behavior on the OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx, this points to a driver/firmware interaction issue on the new platform, not a faulty pen.

Please follow the steps below carefully, in order.

Confirm touchscreen devices are detected correctly
Open Device Manager and expand Human Interface Devices.
You should see entries like "HID-compliant touch screen" and "HID-compliant pen."
If neither appears, the touchscreen driver is not loading correctly.

Check for devices under “Other devices.”
In Device Manager, look for any device with a yellow warning icon.
If present, right-click it and note the device name; this often indicates a missing touch controller driver.

Reinstall the touchscreen controller driver (important)
In Device Manager, expand Human Interface Devices.
Right-click the HID-compliant touch screen (if present) and select Uninstall device.
Restart the system and allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.

Install the correct chipset and I2C drivers from HP
Go to the HP support page for HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx.
Download and install the latest AMD chipset driver and I2C/Serial IO driver for your model.
These drivers control pen and touch signal interpretation.

Disable ghost touch temporarily to isolate the issue
In Device Manager → Human Interface Devices, right-click HID-compliant touch screen and select Disable.
Test the pen with touch disabled.
If the pen works normally, this confirms a touchscreen firmware or driver conflict.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics for touch input
Restart the laptop and press F2 repeatedly at startup.
Run the Touch Screen test.
This helps determine if the panel firmware is misreporting multiple contact points.

Update BIOS to the latest version
Install the newest BIOS available for your OmniBook Ultra from HP.
Recent AMD AI platforms rely heavily on BIOS updates for pen and touch stability.

Reset pen pairing (even though MPP is passive)
Power off the pen and leave it unused for 10 minutes.
Restart the laptop, log in fully, and then begin using the pen again.
This forces Windows Ink to rebuild its pen profile.

Test using Windows Ink only
Open Microsoft Paint or OneNote (desktop) and test the pen there.
Avoid third-party apps during testing to rule out software conflicts.

I hope this helps.

I tried all options, but it still did not work also i could not find the option Locate the HID-compliant pen/touch under device manager and human interface devices which i think is the reason for not properly working on the device or either HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx not compatible with touch pen.

Hi @Barg237,

Thank you for the response.

I understand your HP Rechargeable Tilt Pen MPP 2.0 works correctly on another HP system but behaves erratically on the HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx, and the HID-compliant pen/touch device is missing in Device Manager. Let’s go through what this means and what you can do next.

Confirm touchscreen support on this specific model
The HP OmniBook Ultra 14-fd0000nx is offered in both touch and non-touch configurations.
If HID-compliant touch screen / pen devices do not appear at all in Device Manager, this strongly indicates the unit may not have an active touch digitizer, even though the display supports MPP technology in other variants.

Check Windows for touch capability
Go to Settings > System > About > Device specifications.
If Windows does not report “Pen and touch: Touch support with pen input”, the hardware digitizer is not present or not detected.

Verify in HP BIOS
Restart the notebook and press Esc > F10 to enter BIOS.
Check for any Touchscreen or Digitizer options.
If no touch-related option exists, this confirms the system firmware is not detecting touch hardware.

Install required platform drivers (important check)
Even if touch hardware exists, it will not work without platform drivers.
Install the following from the HP support page for your exact model:

AMD Chipset Driver

AMD I2C / Serial IO driver
After installation, restart and recheck Device Manager under Human Interface Devices.

Why the pen works on the Spectre but not here
Your Spectre x360 has a Wacom/MPP digitizer built into the display panel.
The OmniBook Ultra only supports pen input if the specific unit includes a touch digitizer.
The pen itself is not faulty — the behavior you see (multi-point or erratic input) occurs when Windows interprets pen signals without a proper digitizer layer.

About compatibility claims
“MPP compatible” refers to pen protocol support, not a guarantee that every configuration includes touch hardware.
Without a digitizer, no pen (including HP MPP 2.0) can function correctly.

I hope this helps.
