Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

Let me explain what happened, I have this computer for quite a time. I did not have any problem until now with the last update of Microsoft. -.- It updated in October and I noticed that once it reached 50%, the computer shut down. I thought that it just needed a battery recalibration and that's all. After that, I continued with it. Then, now when I charged the computer the yellow charger light is on but in a couple of seconds shifts into white. It puts on white even though it is not fully charged.

I ran the battery troubleshooter from Microsoft and it solved some issues but not this! Then I ran the HP's troubleshooter and I selected F2, components, battery, and ca adapter and both of them passed. I don't know what to do. Technically this laptop is almost new why is it failing?

Thank you~

I reviewed your post and I understand that the battery is not getting charged correctly.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp100501-101000/sp100871.exe

If you continue facing the issue, then reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
