HP ProBook 440 14 inch G9 Notebook PC (4D7R3AV)

Hi,

I have HP ProBook 440 G9 with i5-1235U. When I try to install WIndows11 it reaches a point asking for drivers.

The error I see is the same as in this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITiPCSiEcwM

Unfortunately when I went to the drivers page for my laptop there was no section with Driver-Storage.

Can anyone help me with direction where I can get the drivers from?

Thank you in advance!

Thank you once again for the further suggestion.

Indeed my laptop came with FreeDOS and I successfully installed on it openSUSE Tumbleweed. I also wanted to try out the Windows 11 on it and downloaded the ISO image from MS site. Then placed it on a flash drive with the dd utility in Linux.

During the installation I got the error that no disk drive was available and I needed drivers for this.

I saw that there was another option on the MS site: to create a USB drive using the Media Creation tool. I had not tried this since I did not have a Windows PC at hand, where to run it. Today I found such a PC and created the USB installation drive with the Media Creation Tool. When I booted from it, the Win11 installation started normally, properly recognized the disk drive in the HP laptop and installation went smoothly.

My initial mistake was that I did not try this option first, I just thought it is the Windows alternative of Linux dd of just copying the ISO file to the USB. Apparently it does something else, which enabled the proper installation.

Thank you for the help!

Hi:

See if the driver that I zipped up and attached below works for you.

According to the Intel site, this driver is supposed to be good for notebooks with the Intel 11th, 12th, and 13th gen core processors.

Hi,

thank you very much for the response and the link to the drivers archive. I tried it, but unfortunately none of the drivers in it was compatible with my hardware. I was surprised too, since I have found a similar driver on the Intel page, however it was not compatible either.

I hope someone else can help. Thank you in advance!

P.S. Apologies for the delayed response. Installing Win11 on the laptop is like a side project to me. It runs openSUSE without any issues and I just wanted to try out the WIn11 too - as an alternative.

You're very welcome.

If the PC came with Windows from HP, the only suggestion I can offer would be to use the HP cloud recovery client utility to install W11.

Here's the link to the software.

You will need to use the utility on another PC since yours is not running and you will need to enter the PC's serial number in the tool's search window.

Here's an info link for how to use the software:

If it came with FreeDOS, unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try because that driver should have worked.

I've given that very same driver to many other forum members that have notebook and desktop PCs with the Intel 12 gen core processors.

Never had a problem in the past.

You can also try the driver from Dell:
