Product: Probook 450 G2 i7-5500U
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop was working fine then... wasn't. 

 

When power is initially applied (either battery OR AC adapter, but not if battery is already in and AC adapter is plugged in) the power light, caps lock light, and charging light flicker.  There is then a code on the charging light which is 2 orange long flashes the 1 white short flash. No beeps.

 

The HP document about error codes doesn't list this, but the nearest is 2/2 which indicates BIOS error. I HAVE tried to recover the BIOS using a USB to no avail.

 

I could initially trick the laptop by leaving it plugged in without the battery then adding the battery, but this no longer works.

 

I know both the charger and the battery are okay as I have another near identical laptop in which they both work fine. CMOS battery was replaced as part of troubleshooting, no difference.

 

I have tried the hard reset.
