Can someone tell me if the processor in the G6-2123US laptop can be upgraded to the A10-4600M? I have several of these laptops and the maintenance guide says that the processor will work. I have tried two so far, and after installing the processor they won't even power on. Two different machines and two different processors...

The Service Manual says it will work. I have never personally done the upgrade but guided a few users through it with success. All I can say is to follow the procedure to the letter. Make sure to get the processor locking screw fully back to locked position. Usually if the processor is incompatible you will at least get a power on and black screen but if that lock is not in place it will prevent any kind of power to the motherboard. Also check the source of your processors. Computer processors on eBay for example are a major source of complaints about vendors selling bad product. Not saying yours are but processors are something to watch.
