Pavilion G6
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I do not know which version of the Pavilion G6 I have but it has an AMD E2-3000M processor.
Can I upgrade it to an Intel Core i7 processpr? If so, which ones are compatible?

Thanks

Chris

No you can't go iNtel-AMD and iNtel do not swap. You have to buy a iNtel i7 laptop to get a iNtel CPU. And don't upgrade AMD they aren't worth upgrading.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about processor upgrade information and wanted to help -- but need more information, first.

We need to know the specific model number to find that information.  So, please follow the directions in this link to find the detailed product number of your PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001

If that is not possible, then look for a sticker on the PC that includes the product number and post that here.  If the battery is removable, the sticker is likely to be in the battery compartment.

We can proceed once you provide the information.

Thanks

WOw...You say DONT updrade AMD processors?? lol.Maybe in laptops...

  Thats the one very thing you should do when you get HP - AMD builds.....I bought a HP 500-401a desktop and the first thing i did was upgrade the Processor to a GOdveri A10-7890k and Graphics card from a R7 240 to GTX 970 and whilst i cant overclock yet (until my new mobo comes), i play Witcher 3, GTA 5 and Crysis 3 on FULL graphics at 1080p..

  All the reviews about the APU's (especially) review with the intergrated graphics only giving WAAAAYY underperforming scores compared to Intels but i tell you the happiest day of my year was when i updraded my CPU from A8-6500b to A10-7890k....

  So bad advice you gave there...

Big time!!!
