Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP is ridiculous. My laptop isn't that old, and it can't run Windows 11? My wife's laptop is older, and it can.

Device name LAPTOP-JORLE8DD
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.90 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable)
Device ID 6B29B4D1-4409-4F3A-B9A8-A5C2AAAE5F9E
Product ID 00325-96324-03115-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

So, what do I do with this basically unusable doorstop? Is there a different processor I can install on here that will be able to run Win 11?  Or did I buy an already obsolete laptop? I can't believe that a few years ago HP wouldn't have made sure everything they were selling was able to run Win 11.

Hi:

This problem is all Microsoft's doing, not due to any of the PC manufacturers creation.

It wasn't long ago when Microsoft announced that W10 would be the last operating system they released.

When your notebook was made, W11 wasn't even on the drawing board.

You would have to replace the motherboard with one listed in your notebook's service manual that may come with an Intel 8th gen core processor.

It probably would cost just about as much as buying a notebook that is W11-capable out of the box.

See the info at the link below for how to bypass the W11 hardware checks to upgrade.

That's what I did.  I've upgraded 11 unsupported PCs to W11, and they all work fine.
