My processor is Intel i5- 6200 U which was damaged for now. Is it possible to replace only the processor or should I replace the whole motherboard. Coz I heard from some people that the processor is inbuilt and is irreplaceable. Appreciate your response pals. Thankyou.

Hi:

The only way to change/upgrade the processor would be to replace the system board.

The processors are integral parts of the motherboard on most Intel notebook platforms with 4th gen core processors, and all Intel notebook platforms thereafter.

Appreciate your answer sir. How much would the board cost basically.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately that I would not know.

It would be extremely hard to find motherboards, but below is the link to the service manual.

In chapter 3, find a motherboard you are interested in, and do a search by the part number on eBay or wherever.

Here is the link to the HP parts store where you can also enter the part number and see if they have it for sale.

Another question Paul. My service man stated that DDR3 supports i5-5200U but not i5-6200U. Is that true and can u elaborate me technically.

Thanks.

Hi:

You'll have to see what memory your PC supports.

Some 6th gen processor motherboards use DDR3L memory, and some use DDR4.

Chapter 1 of the service manual for your notebook indicates that all processors in that model series use DDR3L memory.
