My Elitebook 6930p has an Intel P8700 processor. Can anyone tell me if I can upgrade to the maximum optional processor for this model of a T9900 without any issues?

Yes all the Intel processors are supported an all the different Intel motherboards offered. So your motherboard will accept the T9900.

Here is the Service Manual:

Here is the processor on eBay for $60:

Hey there.

I am joining this thred too late, but can you inform me if I can put any Haswell , e.g. i5 processor to that laptop? I noticed that currently the processor is the weakest component while I still like the machine for a home notebook.

Many thanks!

its not true. not all intel processors work in this laptop. i tried the inel Q9000 2.00/6M/1066 and the machine don't start. there is any solution? thank you

This is a 2 year old post. What I meant is that any of the Intel processors listed in the Manual will work on any of the motherboards in the Manual. It uses Core 2 Duos, not Quad Core so no wonder the processor you tried will not work.

in the manual or not? post with 2 years? i'm talking about a processor from maybe 2010. why the FSB are the same as T9400 and above and why my quad core don't work? its the "**bleep**ty" things from HP because they will block everything. reminds me the HP XW9400 to put a six core processor you will need to buy a 004/005 motherboard. and if you have a 001 its not enough upgrade the bios, you will need to buy a new motheboard. its sad we spend money for nothing. thank you

What is really sad is that everyone's a victim. Can't have exactly what you want when you want it so write a snarky post on a Forum. "Nothing", really?

ok so please tell me why a T9400 (2.53/6M/1066FSB) works in a HP Probook 4310 and why the Q9000 (2.00Ghz/6M/1066FSB) don't work? thank you

The circuitry in a Quad Core is different. The motherboard can be designed to either work or not work with the Quad Cores. HP does not tell us why it makes the decisions it does but obviously they decided this model was not going to have a Quad Core option. So they designed the motherboard and ordered the factory to make it without Quad Core support. It is not a secret. They spell it out in the Manual. The problem is for people who try to ignore the manual and assume they can tell what is going to work and then get all angry when they are wrong. And take it out on people like me who just provide the information.
