OMEN X by HP 900-140vt CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

What, if any, are my options to upgrade my processor to be compatible with Windows 11?

MS Windows upgrade tool says my processor isnt compatible. Yes, I know I can upgrade to Win 11 anyway, but I have seen where the auto updates won't work, and probably wont get any support, as well as who knows what else won't work?

I bought this system specifically so I could upgrade it when the time came.  Well.. WIndows 11 comes, and guess what.  My processor isn't supported for upgrade to Win 11. What nonsense!

Current configuration:
System Model OMEN X by HP Desktop PC 900-1XX

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz, 4201 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home, Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044

@Gunny0100,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Unfortunately, your OMEN X By HP 900-140vt CTO (Y4R45AV) according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05404680, has chipset Z170, which is not compatible with W11 'approved' processors...

And yes, it IS nonsense.  I have a heavily upgraded HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF with an i7-7700K which rivals many so-called W11 approved CPUs.

I feel your pain, so to speak.
