Hi:

The processors in that model series are all part of the motherboard.

The only way to upgrade the processor would be to replace the entire motherboard with one listed in the service manual that has a better processor.

You would also have to probably replace the fan and heatsink.

After all the money and time you would invest in such a project, it would be far better to sell your model and buy a better one.

Hi,

Welcome to HP Support Forum. I think your machine is the following machine:

     http://www8.hp.com/pt/pt/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=13316390

Sorry to say no, you can't swap out its CPU (processor), you need a new motherboard with CPU on it. This is a very expensive upgrade but if you wish, please try a list on pages 72 to 74 of the following document:

        http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05087748.pdf

Note: This work is for Authorized Service Provider parts only. Doing it yourself may void warranty if something went wrong due to this upgrade.

Regards.

Hi,

I have the exact same motherboard in my 15-ay013cy, but have the Pentium N3710 CPU.  I will be upgrading RAM from 4 GB to 8GB (max for my laptop), and upgrading 485 GB HDD with 500 GB SSD HDD.  this should speed things along.
