Hp 17-ca0006ca
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought a hp 17-ca006ca notebook with the amd ryzen 3 2300u with vega graphics and im wondering if i can upgrade the processor to ryzen 5 or 7. Looking the amd processors up online they show for desktops. Would both laptops and desktops share the same processor as long as its the same am4 plug? I can get a AMD YD2400C5FBBOX Ryzen 5 2400G Processor with Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics on amazon for 200 dollars but it says its a desktop processor. I find the ryzen 3 pretty slow. Thanks in advance!

Hi:

The processors in notebook PC's are an integral part of the motherboard.

The only way to upgrade the processor would be to replace the motherboard with one listed in the service manual that comes with a better processor.

Since your notebook is so new, a motheboard upgrade would probably cost as much or more than buying a new notebook with a better processor.

Here is the service manual with the list of supported motherboards (chapter 3)
