Dear sir/madam,
I have an HP pavilion dv6-2133ee core i3 product no: W M930EA#ABV. Can I upgrade this laptop to core i5 or core i 7 and which processor can fit in the socket of the motherboard?
Thanks in advance
Best regards

You have the i3-330M, right? In some instances that processor is soldered to the motherboard.
The Manual for the dv6t-3000 series has several 1st gen dual cores which would work if the processor is socketed and not soldered on.
i5-580M is the best of the bunch.

Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that you require assistance regarding upgrading the processor of the computer. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it. Splendid description and brilliant troubleshooting of the issue. It is amply appreciated.
Let me gather some information for better clarity to assist you correctly:
- Did you check the service manual of the computer?
I will be providing a roadmap with more information to assist you.
Please check the service manual from this link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01860375
Processors
- Intel® CoreT™ i7 mobile processor:
- i7-820-QM, 1.73 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.06 GHz
- i7-720-QM, 1.6 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.8 GHz
- These processors seem to be supported.
- Look under the section “product description” of the service manual.
- Check pages 3- 5 for part numbers and the processor specifications.
It looks like it can be upgraded on paper.
Please note that HP does not recommend upgrading either the operating system or the computer’s hardware as the components that were initially installed with the unit are certified by HP for optimal performance.
However, as you are very technically inclined, I would still request you to consult a local technician before proceeding to upgrade the unit so that there are no compatibility issues and everything is a smooth sail.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

No that Manual is posted under your Model but is not right. There were some very few models in your model series with Intel Core first gen dual core processors. That Manual is for a series that used Quad Cores. This processors will not work on your motherboard but I cannot find the right Manual it is very elusive.

Thanx for your effort!
That is right, core i3 M 330 2.13 GHz, I have to check it first if it is soldered to the motherboard or not.
Previously I got an answer regarding the memory for the Pavilion dv6-2133ee in the link below:
Is this still the right choice based on the first manual?
