Hello everyone,
My Laptop battery suddenly stopped charging being stuck at 75% available (a few days before) and now at 67%.
battery specs: HP P106 Notebook battery (10.8 V, 47Wh)
Age: 6 years
I have few questions:
- Can I get original HP battery for my Laptop and how much will it cost? (I searched in the local market, they refused for the reason that laptop is too old)
- Can I use battery from other Laptop companies? Does it matter to use same brand battery?
- Local market is giving me a substitute battery. should I go for it?

Here are the part numbers for possible batteries:
Battery:
6-cell, 62-Wh, 2.80-Ah, Li-ion battery 710417-001
6-cell, 47-Wh, 2.20-Ah, Li-ion battery 710416-001
The battery is unique to this laptop so there is no Lenovo or Dell battery you can use.
Laptop batteries on older laptops can either be original HP product made with an HP trademark under license or third party compatible batteries.
On a 6-year old laptop third party batteries are absolutely a viable option. There are many sellers on amazon India who offer compatible batteries. The ones that are "Prime" sellers are generally reputable companies as Amazon monitors consumer complaints and will kick them off Prime if they are not honest.
