Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I own an HP Laptop 14s-dy2506TU and am considering upgrading its RAM and storage. I'd like to find out the maximum capacity for both RAM and storage that this laptop supports. Currently, it has a single 8GB 3200MHz RAM module in one slot, with the other slot empty. The storage is a 256GB NVMe M.2 drive. I'm curious if there's an additional slot for an SSD, or if I need to replace the existing one to install a new storage drive.

Hi:

HP does not have a service manual for your notebook's model series.

They only have the one for the older 14s-dy0xxx model series.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

The notebook has two memory slots and can support 2 x 8 GB of memory.

The notebook only has support for one M.2 SSD, so if you need more storage you will have to replace the existing NVMe SSD and replace it with one having a greater storage capacity.

16 GB of memory is normally enough for most folks but if you want to see if the notebook can support more than 2 x 8 GB of memory, you can run this command to see if that is possible:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

FWIW, the Crucial memory report indicates that your notebook will support 2 x 32 GB of memory.
