Hello!,
My little brother wants to upgrade his laptop as his laptop is too slow. He has the HP-CF2502SA.
I have ran userbenchmark on it and it’s recommended the following ram to upgrade too:
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 MHz PC RAM - 8 GB x 2
I just had a couple of questions:
- I haven’t opened laptop yet so wanted to check if it has 2 ram slots?
- Will this ram work?, if not please can somebody recommend another/cheaper
- Will it void the warranty if I do the upgrade myself as I have upgraded an old laptop and know this is easy to do
- is 16gb the max it can be upgraded too?
Thank you all so much for your help.
Corey

Hi, Corey:
When I google the description of the memory you posted, I get desktop memory, which will not fit in a notebook PC.
The service manual on the support page (2nd one listed) is outdated, and doesn't include the models with the 10th gen core processors.

Here is the link to the Crucial memory report for your notebook.

I recommend that you get the standard memory (green circuit board) vice the gaming memory because you cannot change any of the memory timings in the BIOS, and the faster timed gaming memory may not work.
You would want the DDR4-2666 MHz memory which is what HP installed in your notebook according to the specs.
I recommend you get two of these...
Crucial 8GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA266 | Crucial UK
Warranty...since this is a peer to peer forum and we don't work for or represent HP, we cannot advise you as to the consequences of opening up the notebook and doing the work yourself.
If you look at chapter 5 of the manual, HP requests that memory replacement be performed by an authorized service center.
If you feel that you can do the work yourself without breaking anything in the process, it would probably not void the warranty.

Hello thank you so so much for your detailed reply.
I can see that it has 64GB max capacity and has two slots just want to check this is correct?. Am I able to buy a 16gb and 8gb or will it have to be two 8gb?.
Just want to be sure that’s all!

You're very welcome.
It is recommended to install memory in matching capacites.
What you want to do should be fine, but the memory may only run in the lower performing single channel mode.
I would just get a 16 GB chip, add it to the 4 GB chip and have 20 GB,
Then someday, replace the 4 GB chip with a 16 GB chip and have 32 GB running in dual channel mode.
