Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My old HP Pavilion finally died. Two years ago I bought this wonderful touch screen laptop. Now I need to learn to dock it to all my peripherals. I'm close but have some remaining questions and cannot get anyone to recognize my computer via tech support and the manuals I could find on line to go near what I'm asking about.

I have a loaned USB-C Hub to experiment with. So it plugs into my laptop and everything works fine. However the other end of the hub is a USB-C outlet that in theory should pass through and allow me to plugin a single USB-C device. I'm assuming that is not unique to this loaner but rather the reality of the HP port. Can you verify that?

My other questions are not HP specific but since it's related to my setting this up maybe someone will be kind and help by responding:

* Assuming all my USB are 3s which I think they are I'm also assuming 3s can't go into USB-2 slots or if they can they lose speed. Is that accurate?

* I need to understand that if the dock has HDMI 4K that my non-4K will still work with it, which my brother says it will....

Thanks for any help.
