Hi
So my HP 15b laptop had one 4GB 1RX16 DDR4 Memory sticks.
I wanted to upgrade with aN 8GB 2RX16 DDR4 RAM.
But the screen went black, even though the Fan was rolling
At some point, the caps lock was blinking when I changed it
I tried all the processes:
- Long press power button (for 15-20s)
- Windows + B/V to reset BIOS
Is this a compatibility issue?
The CPU is AMD RADEON R3 (A4-9120)
Any assistance would be appreciated because I need this PC for virtualization (I need to upgrade to a 16GB RAM)

@ZadokTomi Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that RAM Change causes PC to blackout.
Have you interchange the rams ( ram 1 into ram 2 slot ).
Please install the only 4GB memory and check.
Please perform the memory test.
Memory test
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F2 once.
4) Go to Component test.
5) From the list, run the Memory (extensive) test.

Hi
I used the 4GBs.
And they worked.
All sticks are DDR4 however.
The motherboard is supposed to be compatible with a 16GB RAM. Why is it now working?
Also, with the two 8GBs, I can't even get to the BIOS to do an extensive memory check.
That's my challenge.
Thanks.

Thanks for replying!
Could you try a single 8GB instead of two?
Also, you may have to reinstall the OS to get going.
Keep me posted.
