Hi @ibrahem98,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion laptop is having trouble recognizing the 8GB RAM stick, even though CPU-Z can detect it. This type of issue can be caused by several factors, including a faulty RAM stick, improper seating, or BIOS settings. Here are some steps to troubleshoot.
Check RAM Seating
- Power down your laptop completely and unplug it.
- Open the laptop's back panel and carefully remove the 8GB RAM stick.
- Reseat the RAM, ensuring that it clicks firmly into the slot.
- Power the laptop back on and check if the system detects the RAM.
Test the 8GB RAM Stick
- Try removing the 16GB RAM stick and running the laptop with only the 8GB RAM in the same slot. This can help determine if the stick itself is defective.
- If the 8GB RAM works alone, try swapping it into the other RAM slot to ensure both slots are functional.
Check BIOS Settings
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing Esc, F2, or F10 during startup).
- Check if both RAM sticks are detected in the Memory Information section.
- If not, try resetting the BIOS to default settings to see if that resolves the detection issue.
Run Windows Memory Diagnostic
- Press Windows + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter.
- Select "Restart now and check for problems."
- This will test your RAM for issues and may provide insights if the 8GB stick is faulty.
Update BIOS
- Go to HP's support website and check if there is a BIOS update for your laptop model.
- Update the BIOS following HP's instructions, as this may resolve memory recognition problems.
Check for RAM Compatibility
- Ensure that both RAM sticks are of the same type (e.g., DDR4) and speed (e.g., 2400 MHz, 2666 MHz). Mismatched speeds or types can sometimes cause issues.
If none of these steps work, it may indicate a faulty RAM stick or slot.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
