Question: My device has the "SAMSUNG M425R2GA3EB0-CWMOL 16GB DDR5 5600MHz" RAM. I want to upgrade it to 32GB. There's an available slot. But I don't know if my motherboard supports 32GB of RAM. If so, which model of RAM should I buy?

Hi @omerfurkan
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Yes, your HP Victus 15-fa2018nt supports up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and you can safely upgrade by adding a compatible 16GB module alongside your existing one.
Thanks for sharing your configuration so clearly—it’s a powerful setup, and expanding to 32GB will give you even more headroom for multitasking, gaming, and creative workloads.
RAM Upgrade Details for HP Victus 15-fa2018nt
- Maximum Supported RAM: 32GB DDR5 (2 slots, 16GB per slot)
- Current Module: SAMSUNG M425R2GA3EB0-CWMOL 16GB DDR5 5600MHz
- Motherboard: HP 8E5C (Card Version 51.14), compatible with DDR5 SO-DIMM 5200–5600 MHz
To maintain optimal performance and compatibility, it’s best to match the speed and voltage of your existing module. Here’s what to look for:
Recommended RAM Specifications
- Use DDR5 SO-DIMM type memory.
- Maximum supported capacity is 32GB (2 × 16GB modules).
- Match the speed to 5600MHz if possible, or 5200MHz for broader compatibility.
- Ensure the module is Non-ECC (Error-Correcting Code not required).
- Choose Unbuffered memory (standard for laptops).
- Voltage should be 1.1V.
- Prefer modules from reliable brands like Samsung, Crucial, Kingston, or Corsair.
- For best performance, match the new module’s specs with your existing one (same speed, latency, and rank).
Compatible RAM Models to Consider
You can choose any of the following brands/models that match your current module’s specs:
- Samsung M425R2GA3EB0-CWMOL (identical to your current stick)
- Crucial CT16G56C46S5 – 16GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM
- Kingston KF556S40IB-16 – 16GB DDR5-5600 Impact Series
- Corsair CMSX16GX5M1A5600C40 – 16GB DDR5-5600 Vengeance Series
If you prefer to upgrade with a matched pair, you can also replace your current module with a 2x16GB kit for dual-channel performance.
Installation Tips
- Power off and unplug your laptop.
- Remove the bottom panel carefully using a plastic pry tool.
- Locate the empty SO-DIMM slot and insert the new module at a 45° angle, then press down until it clicks.
- Replace the panel and boot into Windows.
- Confirm the upgrade via Task Manager > Performance > Memory.
