HP Pavilion - 15-bc201nq

Hi,

On my HP Pavilion - 15-bc201nq laptop  I currently have 8GB of RAM ( speed: 2400MHz, slots used : 2, form factor: SODIMM ). When I checked with "wmic memphysical get maxcapacity", it says I can have up to 32GB of RAM.

How to upgrade to 16GB? Can I put 2 of 8GB RAM on each slot? Which RAM models should I use in order to be compatible with my laptop?

Thank you !

Hi:

Yes, your notebook should be able to support 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-2400 CL17 memory.

Recommended 16 and 8 GB memory chips:

Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT16G4SFD824A | Crucial.com

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial.com

I've edited the post. I wanted to say if I could achieve 16gb of ram, by inserting 2 x 8gb ram.

So can I do that using 2 x Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial.com ???

Yes, that would be fine.

And with only upgrading from 8gb ram to 16gb ram, would my 7 years old laptop be capable of running today's video games at least at medium settings? or even doing some casual ML /AI training?

I dont know if I should invest in a new PC or try upgrading my RAM a bit on this laptop (which for me is a tank for all those years)?

What do you suggest?

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know the answer to your question.

Video game performance is largely dependent on the graphics adapter's age and specifications.

Doubling the memory will help overall notebook performance somewhat, but I would not have any idea how much.

Thank you so much
